Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis was born and raised in South Africa, following which he studied in Yeshivot in Israel. Before his appointment as the 11th Chief Rabbi of Britain and the Commonwealth, he served as Chief Rabbi of Ireland and Rabbi of the Marble Arch and Finchley Communities. The Chief Rabbi holds many positions of leadership, including Associate President of the Conference of European Rabbis and President of the London School of Jewish Studies. He is a frequent contributor to radio, television and the press in Britain and around the world. He is the founder, Rabbi and Honorary Principal of Morasha Jewish Primary School, the Founder and Director of Kinloss Learning Centre, the Founder and President of the Kinloss Kollel and the Founder of the Centre for Rabbinic Excellence. Chief Rabbi Mirvis is married to Valerie, a local authority senior social worker. They have four sons and seven grandchildren.
