Sharon Mazel is a journalist and co-author of the New York Times bestselling What to Expect book series, which has sold over 20 million copies, including the popular What to Expect When You’re Expecting;What to Expect the First Year; What to Expect the Second Year; What to Expect Before You’re Expecting; Eating Well When You’re Expecting; What to Expect Babysitter Handbook; and What to Expect Pregnancy Organizer and Journal. Sharon is also a consulting editor, writer, and blogger for WhatToExpect.com. Sharon’s articles have appeared in The Washington Post, Parenting Magazine, BabyTalk Magazine and other publications. A former television news producer and writer at NBC, FOX, and WPIX, Sharon holds a Masters degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and is a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University. Dr. Jay A. Mazel

Jay A. Mazel, MD FHRS is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist at Medstar Cardiology Associates and served as Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. Jay is also the co-author of Cardiology Emergencies. He specializes in complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmia ablations, defibrillator, pacemaker, and biventricular device implantation as well as complex laser lead extractions. Dr. Mazel received his specialty training at Yale New Haven Hospital and won the ACC Young Investigators award for his research in cardiac arrhythmias.

Shoshana Schechter

Shoshana Schechter is assistant professor of Bible at Stern College for Women and the director of the Mechina program. A graduate of Stern College, with a B.S. in both Judaic Studies and English Literature, Prof. Schechter also teaches Tanach and English at Ateres High School in Rockland County, New York. She holds masters degrees from Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies as well as from Columbia University School of Journalism. She is a frequent lecturer on topics in Tanach and has been involved in Jewish outreach programs on four continents. She lives in New Hempstead, New York with her husband, Yitzchak, and five children.

Dr. Isaac Schecter

Dr. Isaac Schechter is an internationally recognized leader in behavioral health care and research of the Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish Community. He is Chief Clinical Officer, and founder of the Center for Applied Psychology (CAPs) at Bikur Cholim. CAPs is one of the largest and most innovative providers of the full range of behavioral health services for the Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish community with multiple branches across Rockland (Monsey) and Orange (Monroe). CAPs is now one of 70 centers across the US designated as a federal Certified Behavioral Health Center to create the models for the next generation of behavioral health care.

Dr. Schechter is also the founder and Director of the Institute for Applied Research and Community Collaboration (ARCC), a center for action research and collaboration about the health, behavioral health and social issues of the Orthodox Jewish community. His pioneering research in many topics from dating, marriage, divorce, medical decision making, community health, is cited and used widely in clinical, communal and religious practice. His collaborative work spans a wide range of academic, medical and clinical centers as well a the gamut of Orthodox and Hasidic institutions, Yeshivas and communities.

Rabbi Ben Silver

Rabbi Silver serves as the assistant rabbi at one of the largest shuls in the Greater Washington area. Known for his engaging speaking style and natural leadership he has successfully cultivated and grown a community of young professionals and singles. Rabbi Silver received Semicha from Rabbi Moshe Shternbuch, Executive Director of the Rabbinical Court of Jerusalem and Rabbi Nathan Greenblatt, Av Beis Din of Memphis, Tennessee.  In addition to his rabbinical duties, Rabbi Silver is a practicing attorney and also holds a Masters in Education, both valuable resources that he has applied to his own rabbinate and teachings. Concurrent with his other responsibilities, Rabbi Silver is pursuing an LLM in Taxation from Georgetown University. Rabbi Silver lives in the greater Washington area together with his wife, Estee, and adorable son, Gavi.

Rabbi Menachem Leibtag, founder of the Tanach Study Center www.tanach.org, is an internationally acclaimed bible scholar and pioneer of Jewish Education on the internet. His essays on Parshat ha’Shavua reflect his vibrant thematic-analytical approach, blending the methods of modern scholarship with traditional approaches.  As a faculty member at Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel, he is best known for his ability to teach students how to study Tanach.   Rabbi Leibtag also teaches at Matan, Midreshet Lindenbaum, & Yeshivat Shaalavim; and routinely lectures around the globe, primarily as a Scholar in Residence in communities in North America.

Rabbi Arthur Schneier

Rabbi Arthur Schneier, Senior Rabbi of Park East Synagogue in New York City and founder of its Day School, (Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School), has served this leading modern Orthodox congregation for over fifty years.  As Founder and President of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation (1965) he is internationally known for his leadership on behalf of religious freedom, human rights and tolerance is the only Rabbi to be awarded the U.S. Presidential Citizens Medal for “his service as an international envoy for four administrations” and “as a Holocaust survivor, devoting a lifetime to overcoming forces of hatred and intolerance,” and was recognized by the US Senate for his lifelong advocacy of inter-religious cooperation and peace.

RABBI ABRAHAM COOPER

Rabbi Abraham Cooper is the associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. He has been a longtime activist for Jewish and human rights’ causes on six continents. Since 1977, Rabbi Cooper has overseen the Wiesenthal Center’s international social action agenda and worldwide promotion of tolerance education. He is widely recognized as a pioneer and international authority on issues related to Digital Hate and Terrorism. Rabbi Cooper regularly meets with numerous influential religious and political leaders, and has coordinated international conferences at UNESCO, Berlin, Geneva and multi-faith conferences on religion and terrorism in Bali and Mumbai. He has testified before the United Nations, the United States Senate, the Japanese Diet, the French Parliament, and the OSCE.. His op-eds appear internationally in the secular and Jewish media. Newsweek/Daily Beast lists Rabbi Cooper together with Rabbi Hier as #8 among the “50 Most Influential Rabbis in the United States”. He is a founding member of Israel’s Global Forum on Anti-Semitism.

RABBI MARVIN HIER – DEAN & FOUNDER SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER OF LOS ANGELES

RABBI MARVIN HIER is the founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center & Museum of Tolerance. In 1977, Rabbi Hier came to Los Angeles to create the Simon Wiesenthal Center, named in honor of famed Nazi hunter, Simon Wiesenthal. Under his leadership, the Center has become one of the foremost Jewish human rights agencies in the world, with a constituency of more than 400,000 families, and offices throughout the United States, in Canada, Europe, Israel and Argentina. In 1993, an article in the Los Angeles Times noted that Rabbi Hier had made the Wiesenthal Center, “the most visible Jewish organization in the world” and, in 2007, and again in, 2008, an article in Newsweek named him the “Most Influential Rabbi in America.”
