Rabbi Manis Friedman

Rabbi Manis Friedman, a noted Biblical scholar & recognized for his grasp of Jewish mysticism founded Bais Chana Institute of Jewish Studies in Minnesota. Rabbi Friedman serves as the dean of this yeshiva that is exclusively for women. From 1984-1990 he served as simultaneous translator for the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s televised talks. Rabbi Friedman is a professionally-ranked member of the National Speakers Association. His speaking tours take him to every part of this country as well as Israel, England, The Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Canada, and Hong Kong. Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1946 and immigrated with his family to the United States in 1950, he received his rabbinic ordination from the Rabbinical College of Canada in 1969.

World-renowned author, counselor, lecturer and philosopher, Rabbi Manis Friedman uses ancient wisdom and modern wit as he captivates audiences around the country and around the world. He hosted his own critically acclaimed cable television series, Torah Forum with Manis Friedman, syndicated throughout North America. Over 150,000 copies of his provocative yet entertaining tapes, both audio and video have been sold. Ruven Bamburger

Over the past 25 years, Ruven Bamberger has worked alongside some of the greatest Chasidic singers on some of the biggest stages all over the world. His repertoire includes songs of Moshe Ben David, Avraham Fried, Shweky, Chasidic genre and Israeli music. Reuven, who resides in Antwerp, Belgium, is well-known as one of the top keyboard artists in the Chasidic music world.

Option 1: Full Day Shared Tour

MOUNT ETNA AND TAORMINA TOUR

This is an expert lead cultural tour with a local tour guide (archaeologist/art historian). Take a 2 hour scenic ride to visit the tallest active volcano in Europe, Mt. Etna  known for its superb view and stunning volcanic rock. Explore its central crater Silvestre located at Rifugio Sapienza. This tour is about one hour.  Next stop is Taormina, a gorgeous town overlooking the water with an amazing view of the sea. Visit the beautiful historical center, and its famous Greek-Roman theatre, Roman Odeion (Roman music hall), Roman baths, Gothic Catalan buildings, and the Cathedral of St. Nicolò of Taormina. This tour is about 2.5 hours  and you will have some free time in Etna and Taormina to visit the many boutiques and shops where you can purchase local products and souvenirs.

VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES

This is an expert lead cultural tour with a local tour guide (archaeologist). Take a 2.5 hour ride to visit the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento,  a UNESCO World Heritage site, among the greatest Greek ruins in the world with a spectacular view. You will find the remains of Doric temples within a beautiful valley of almond trees and olive groves. This is a 3 hour cultural tour. Next stop is to visit Agrigento and its surrounding area for a 2 hour tour. You will have some free time in Agrigento to purchase local products and souvenirs.

Take a 1.5 hour ride to visit the Villa Romana del Casale (Roman Villa) of Piazza Armerina, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can explore the largest collection of mosaics in the world. This is a 3 hour tour. Next stop is ancient city of Morgantina, a Greek-Sikel and unearthed city where you can see Greek urban arrangements with private and public buildings and temples. This is a 1.5 hour tour and some free time will be provided at each location.

SIRACUSA ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK AND ORTIGIA

This is an expert lead cultural tour with a local tour guide (archaeologist/art historian). Take a 1.5 hour ride to visit the ancient city of Siracusa (Syracuse), once a significant city of the Roman Empire with its archaeological site and 3,000 year old  amphitheatre. The tour at the archaeological site is about 3 hours. Next,  visit the island of Ortigia  (Ortygia), Syracuse’s historic centre with charming narrow streets. Visit St. John the Baptist church former synagogue, the Cathedral of Syracuse and one of the oldest Mikveh in Europe with its five immersion pools. Also, see the 4 Jewish inscriptions found in Syracuse displayed  in Bellomo Museum and visit the Jewish quarter (Giudecca). This is a three hour tour and some free time will be provided to explore the various shops to purchase local products and souvenirs.

BAROQUE TOUR
Ragusa, Modica and Scicli

This is an expert lead cultural tour with a local tour guide (archaeologist/art historian). Take a 40 minute scenic ride to visit the Baroque towns and UNESCO World Heritage sites of Val di Noto, Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Scicli. Admire these picturesqe towns, the many magestic palaces, narrow streets, ornamented balconies with beautiful squares in Baroque style that were built after the 1693 earthquake. Specific detail and attention to the history of the Jewish community in Modica and in Scicli will be provided. The tour in each town will be about 1 to 1.5 hours. In each of these towns, there are many specialty shops where you can purchase local products during the free time provided.

Option 2: Full Day Shared Tour

NOTO AND MARZAMEMI
FISHERMAN VILLAGE TOUR

This is an expert lead cultural tour with a local tour guide (archaeologist/art historian). Take a 1.5 hour ride to visit the baroque town of Noto. Enter through the Royal Gateand discover the many beautiful Baroque palaces with cherubs that decorate the facing. Next stop is the ancient tuna fishing village of Marzamemi. Admire the Palace of Prince Nicolaci di Villadorata, the Greek coastal quarries built in the 5th century BC, the tuna fishery and the many fishermen houses that are now restaurants, and speciality shops where you can purchase local tuna fish products. The tour in each city will be from 1 to 2 hours and you will be provided with 1 hour of free time at each location.

Booking period expires on September 15, 2016 for shared tours, private tours and transfers. Any bookings made after the September 15, 2016 will be accepted subject to availability. Shared tours are subject to a minimum of 6 participants. If minimum participants is not reached, Chauffeurs in Italy reserves the right to cancel the tour and full refund will be made. Tour itinerary may be adjusted due to unforseen needs. Chauffeurs in Italy reserves the right to cancel the tours, at any time prior to departure and will reimburse only the amount paid. To cancel a booking, participants are required to give notice to Chauffeurs in Italy by September 30, 2016 for full refund. Chauffeurs in Italy is not liable for tour delays due to traffic, road closures or interruptions; theft or loss of personal belongings; and  touristic sites closures. Pricing includes  personal driver services, tour guide services where stated on program, fuel, taxes, tolls, parking, vehicle and driver/vehicle expenses. Pricing does not include entrance fees to touristic sites, restaurant food and drink charges, driver gratuities, hotel accommodation and if applicable must be paid separately by the participant.
