Rabbi Yosie Levine joined the rabbinic team of The Jewish Centerof Manhattan in 2004. He earned a BA in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University and remains an active alumnus. A Wexner Graduate Fellow, Rabbi Levine received rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and was the winner of RIETS’ writing prize. He holds an MPA in Public Policy from NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School and is currently completing his coursework toward a doctoral degree in Early Modern Jewish History at Yeshiva University’s Bernard Revel Graduate School.
Rabbi Levine served as Rabbinic Intern, Assistant Rabbi and Associate Rabbi at The Jewish Center where he received practical rabbinic training and mentoring from Rabbi Ari Berman (President-elect of Yeshiva University). Before joining the Center, he served as the educational director of the Lauder Foundation’s Beit Midrash in Berlin, Germany and as the visiting scholar of Congregation Knesseth Israel in Birmingham, Alabama. Rabbi Levine has taken a leadership role on the issue of day school affordability and serves as the chair of Manhattan Day School’s Political Advocacy Committee. He is co-chair of the Manhattan Eruv and is active in numerous communal organizations including AIPAC and the Beth Din of America and serves on the Board of UJA-Federation of New York. Rabbi Levine’s wife, Rachel, is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Manhattan. They are the proud parents of Akiva, Yehoshua, Ari and Judy.
Rabbi David Marcus is a Musmach of Yeshiva University and holds various graduate degrees in psychology and education. Rabbi Marcus served as the rabbi of the Young Israel of Lawrenceville in New Jersey and has been teaching informal and informal settings worldwide for the past 30 years.He has authored several Torah publications and posts a popular weekly Torah column on the web. Over the past few years he has also enriched the lives of hundreds of students through his shiurimat Nishmat, Midreshet Tzvia, Yeshivat Hakotel and Machon Meir. He has been a rabbi for Leisure Time Tours Pesach programs for the past 26 years.
Rabbi Marcus is the Senior Development Officer of One Israel Fund and has served as the Executive Director the Efrat Medical Center. He is now spearheading the development of the new Binyamin Medical Center. His professional responsibilities bring him to the United States on a regular basis. Rabbi Marcus, his wife Marcy and their five sons reside in Efrat, Israel.
Rachel Levine is a clinical psychologist in private practice in New York City. She received her PhD from Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the William Alanson White Institute. Rachel was a supervising psychologist for several years at Mt. Sinai Hospital with a specialization in the treatment of significant trauma and abuse. She continues to serve this population in her private practice and is sought after to lecture and train on these topics. In her private practice Rachel works with individuals and couples with a broad range of psychological, social, and relationship-based challenges. Rachel lectures on topics such as healthy models of communication for couples and families, relationship skills, anxiety management, and mindfulness.
Rachel is an active Rebbetzin at The Jewish Center where her husband, Yosie, has served as Rabbi for the past 12 years. Recently, Rachel recently co-founded a Rebbetzin mentorship program through Yeshiva University with the goal of providing young Rebbetzins with greater support.
Moroccan-born Aaron Bensoussan studied the art of Sephardic Liturgical music with his father and master musicians in Morocco. Part of a Moroccan rabbinic dynasty, his grandfather Rabbi Haim David Bensoussan was the chief Rabbi of Morocco and his great grandfather was one of the most revered rabbis to emerge from the city of Fez.
Cantor Bensoussan has performed in concerts and festivals all over the world, including the Jerusalem Theatre in Jerusalem, The Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Composing music combining Ashkenazic and Sephardic elements with a tapestry of Middle Eastern Rhythms, Jazz, Flamenco and pop grooves, he masterfully weaves them together. His famous composition of L’cha Dodi, included on the Puntamaya World Music Series “A Jewish Odyssey”, has been sung in synagogues all over the world. With many cantorial and pop recordings to his credit, Aaron’s repertoire includes his original compositions and Judeo Moroccan classics. The New York Times calling his singing “stout and impassioned”. Aaron Bensoussan has served large and prestigious congregations as Hazzan for 25 years in New York and Toronto and now views the whole world as his bima.
Alan Dorfman, M.S., M.A. is the founder and director of Elevation Tutoring (www.elevationtutoring.com), a service that specializes in personalized tutoring and test preparation tailored to each student. Over the last 12 years, Alan has helped hundreds of students build skills, gain confidence, and achieve success. A high honors graduate of The University of Pennsylvania, Alan has developed a practical approach to organization and time management for adults and children. Hailing from New York, Alan enjoys directing fun and engaging activities for Passover guests.
